Trip to the Capitol

So last Saturday, one of the original copies of the Declaration of Independence was being shown at the Utah State Capitol building. Since this is a rare opportunity, and we haven't been to the Capitol building since it was reopened, we took the opportunity to go and see it for ourselves.

It turned out that the wait to see the document close up was about 4 hours, and we all had to be at other appointments that night, so we weren't able to stand right next to it. Instead, we took the opportunity to walk around the building and step into a bunch of rooms we'd never seen before. Turns out we were able to view the document from a floor above, so really, the only thing we missed out on were the cheesy videos they were showing around it and the ability to actually read the document. It was pretty cool and I was reminded just how beautiful the building really is. I would recommend a visit anytime, it's very impressive.
