Natalie saved us some money today

While we were getting ready this morning, Natalie came walking into the kitchen and said, "Dad, you're not going to believe what I just did." She looked worried, so I thought that maybe she had broken something. She came close to me and said, "I guess one of my holes didn't grow in."

As a brief reminder/history, Natalie had her ears pierced about 3 or 4 years ago, but didn't take care of her ears very well, and decided to take the earrings out and let the holes grow back in again. Recently, Erin had her ears pierced, and ever since, Natalie has been trying to get the guts up to pierce her ears again. We've actually been to a place, with someone waiting on us to do it, 2 or 3 times, but she invariably chickens out and we leave. It's kind of become frustrating for Angie and me.

So I guess Natalie had been looking at a pair of earrings while Erin was putting her's in this morning, and decided to just pick one up and poke her ear for fun. Well, it went right through.

So I told her to go get the other one and try the other ear. She came running in a couple of minutes later to show me this:

She said that one hurt a little when she pushed it in, but she was so excited, she didn't care. We all had a good laugh and then decided to surprise Angie. When she came in from exercising, Natalie walked up to her and asked "how do these earrings look, Mom?" Angie was pretty perplexed at first, and then we all laughed again.

So, no need to go through the rigmarole of pumping Natalie up to get her ears pierced, going to the store, convincing her it won't hurt too bad, having her sit on the chair, get off, get on, etc., then finally leaving with Natalie feeling dejected. Not to mention the money it would have cost. Way to go Nat!

  2. That is so funny! McKenzie did the same thing, and went about 5 years w/o earrings because hers had grown over as well. A couple of weeks ago she was playing with my earrings, and walaa. The only bad thing is that it takes her about 20minutes every day to decide what one to put in.

By the way how is Nate doing? Good luck with the Holidays, it can be tricky give me a call or email me if you need any tips.
