Nathan's Guts

Nate had a bit of a wild day today. He had to go into Primary Children's Medical Center for a test for Celiac disease, which is essentially an intolerance for gluten, which damages the body's ability to absorb nutrients through the intestines. This entails having an upper GI scope and a biopsy of his small intestine to check for damage.

He was excited to go, excited to sleep through any pain he would have, and excited to get pictures of his guts. He did really well up until it was time to put the mask on his face to put him to sleep. He was pretty upset with that, but went to sleep very quickly. Everything went well, and despite a rougher recovery than we thought he would have, he's no worse for the wear.

If you notice, it says "Normal" in each caption for each photo. According to the pictures, he's fine, no damage, but we won't know for sure until they examine the biopsy. Should know later this week or early next week for sure. Doctor says it is extremely rare that it comes back negative. More fun changes ahead.
