Boys Night Out

This time of year is traditionally when Nate and I get to go hang out together. This weekend every year is the new car show at the Southtowne Expo Center, and Nate and I always go and spend some testosterone time checking out and sitting in all the new cars. It's great fun.



This year you could tell there was a bit of an impact from the economy. There were lots of cars that seemed to just be filling the floor - the same car, but a different color, even some used cars. Usually every year there are a handful of concept cars, too, but there was only one real concept there, and it wasn't even a car (The Dodge Tomahawk - a four wheeled motorcycle with a Viper engine - cool, but very old and just not a car).

Nate has usually been enthralled by the race cars or the big shiny cars on the stands, but this year, he seemed to be most taken by any car that was red.



Despite the lack of concept cars, and no MINI presence at all this year, it was still fun to go hang out and spend some time with my boy.





As a side note, my favorite cars from the show:

- The 2010 Mustang - it's surprising how much better it looks with such a small update.
- The Volkswagen CC - really a nice looking car in person.
- The Pontiac Solstice Coupe - I prefer the Saturn Sky to the Pontiac Solstice, generally, but this coupe is really slick looking.
