Mike's visit

Mike, Angie's brother, is back from Afghanistan for a two week leave and we all got together last night for dinner. It was so great to see him doing so well and to hear him share stories of how well his team is doing out there. We were comforted to know that he isn't in as dangerous a place as we had thought. Still not as safe as not being in Afghanistan, but relatively speaking, they could be in a whole lot worse of a situation.

He'd shaved his beard, which disappointed some of us, but I'm sure Amy appreciated it. The kids all loved seeing him, and Ivy, his daughter, is in heaven with him home. Amy, Mike's wife, says she feels like chopped liver right now, as Ivy only wants to be with Mike.

It was a really nice night and so good to see him. We're glad he'll be able to be home to attend Natalie's baptism, she has been so excited to have him here. We miss Rick, but have enjoyed hearing about how well he is doing, also. It's neat to have them both in the same location serving together.

A couple more photos of Ivy and baby Zach:

  1. It's so fun to see the pictures, I'm so glad you posted them! Even though we are out here, seeing the post makes me feel closer. Mike looks great and I am kind of disappointed he shaved too. =) Lisa

  2. Yes; it's so fabulous to see and talk to Mike! That picture of Ivy with her back to us doesn't show what she's doing. She made friends with the statue of the little boy and girl sitting on the bench. She kissed them, tried to feed them cookies and she even took her shoes and socks off because they didn't have any on.
